Closet Storage System

Finally making the decision to get a closet storage system set up? At first the thought of doing all that work can really stop you in your tracks. But here are a few tips and suggestions to make the job go a little easier. When looking at the amount of space you have in your closet, how big it is isn’t as important as how you are going to use it.

Start by taking the job and breaking it down into smaller tasks. By doing it that way the job would seem as large to you making it a lot easier to handle. The first thing to do is to take all the clutter from your closet and get rid of it. Take everything out of your closet. Now look over everything that you have removed, and be honest with yourself if it is something you haven’t worn in years for one reason or another get rid of it. Why keep these things in your closet if you are never using them. Now I know some things in your closet might have sentimental value to you. Take those items and store them in an air tight container in another part of the house.

If any of the clothes in your closet haven’t been worn in the past year think about donating them to Good Will. If any of the clothing is either worn out, does not fit, get rid of them. If any of the items that are in your closet need sewing or alterations done, now is the time to get those done before putting them back in your closet. Now if there is anything that you have that you just threw in the closet because you didn’t have anywhere else to put it. Remove it and either find another spot in the household for it or just get rid of it.

Now you need to come up with a closet storage system to organize all your clothes. You can do this either by style, color or season. Or you can organize them according to how they are worn either for work or around the house or casual. Keep the clothing that you separated hung together in your closet. Always keep in the back of your mind that you want to maximize the space in your closet to the fullest.

When designing your closet storage system, start out by making a list of what you want in your closet. If you love shoes and you own a lot of them you might want to leave enough space to store them. When planning your closet organization system start by measuring the size of your closet by the length and width. This is very important so that you can determine how many racks and shelves you will need for clothing and shoes.

I used to have the hardest time keeping track of things. I tried everything, but nothing would work. I would clean my house twice a week, but within days it was cluttered again. I would go through my possessions all the time, but by the time I sorted through everything, I was more lost than before. The more I put things away, the more I forgot where they were. Basically, the only way for me to keep track of my possessions was to leave them lying out all over the floor. No one wants to do that, particularly when there are 30 years old and trying to get on with their life. That is why I was so pleased to discover the usefulness of plastic storage boxes.

You would never believe how much of a difference having the correct plastic storage boxes makes in your day-to-day organization. The difference has been incredible for me. I was never a person who put a lot of stock in containers until my girlfriend got me into it. She loves plastic storage boxes – she loves any kind of box, basket, carton, container, or closet. She is just one of those people who gets a kick out of things you can put other things into. Anyway, she taught me all about organization. The most important thing is to have a system, and the system starts with your plastic storage bins.

First of all, she got me some heavy duty plastic storage boxes for my tools. My disorganization annoyed her in general, but leaving my tools on the floor was downright dangerous. Once I had some good containers for them, however, I got a system together right away. It was pretty easy once she helped me to set it up. I knew where everything was when I needed it, and I wasn’t banging my feet on big pieces of metal anymore.

After that, it got a little bit more complicated. We thought about buying me a dresser, but we ultimately decided to stick with plastic storage boxes. This wasn’t out of any taste in decorations. It is well-known that there are much more attractive ways to decorate a house than to fill it with plastic storage bins. Even so, a plastic storage box has some big advantages over other modes of storage. It is less permanent than shelves, cheaper than a dresser, and lightweight and easy to move. Unless you have a system designed and know what kind of look you are going for, it is the best way to start. It is so inexpensive that, once you want to upgrade to better furniture, you can easily replace it

By installing a few shelves or dividers it could really help in freeing up more space on the top shelf. The surprising thing is that a lot of these products are cheap and won’t put a big hole in your wallet. For ladies especially, shoes are a major concern when it comes to customizing your closet. By installing a shoe rack or a shoe storage unit that would attach to the closet door would also free up space making it a lot easier to find the shoes that you are looking for.

Once you are finished installing all the pieces to your custom closet organizer you can now start putting all your items back in your closet. This will be the exiting part of your project. You will start to see that closet that was once a jungle for all your clothes being transformed into a well organized unit for all your clothes and accessories.
